She floats in

She floats in, she smiles at him, she floats away.
He thinks of her, he sings for her and wishes she could stay.
Years have passed since he saw her last, he never forgot that day.

Is this how the story ends?
Are they just good friends?
Is this what his life intends?
Are they just good friends?

Ten years on, she hears his song, they meet again.
My life has changed, she explained, put away your pen.
But, he writes, my troubled nights, you can ease my pain.
She agrees, and like a breeze, she floats away and then…

Is this how the story ends?
Are they just good friends?
Is this what his life intends?
Are they just good friends?

Now I propose, that I compose an end to this tale,
After all, I’d be a fool if when I’m old and frail,
I regret the chance, for my romance, to evolve and prevail.

She floats in, she smiles at him, he smiles back at her.
He speaks to her, spends weeks with her, this time she stays.
Years go past, their love lasts and together they live their days.

Is this how the story ends?
Are they just good friends?
Is this what his life intends?
This is how the story ends.
